Geopolymer Bricks from Mine Tailings Waste

Mine tailings are waste rock produced by mining operations during the extraction of precious metals. Current mining operations in Canada produces millions of tons of mine tailings each year. As an example, for each ton of rock in a gold mine roughly 2-3 grams of gold is extracted; the remaining material is defined as mine tailings. The removal and treatment of mine tailings is expensive, time consuming and slows production. PolyRAP has discovered a method of utilizing these mine tailings as an admixture to brick fabrication.
